A new dispatched teacher, Ms. Song Kyung-Min, has been appointed to King Sejong Institute Riyadh.
A new teacher, Ms. Song Kyung-Min was appointed as the third new dispatched teacher at King Sejong Institute Riyadh. She entered Saudi Arabia on June 15th and began working full-time at King Sejong Institute Riyadh on June 23rd. Starting with the summer special semester in July, she plan to provide Korean language education for Saudi at King Sejong Institute Riyadh for the next two years.

Mutual cooperation between AiF Foundation and King Sejong Institute Riyadh
On April 3, at the AiF Children Foundation office located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea, Head of the King Sejong Institute Riyadh, Mr. Yi, TaeYeual and the Professor of Prince Sultan University, Dr. Yun, SukHee held a meeting with the Foundation Chairman, Mr. Kim, YoonSub regarding future cooperation between the two organizations. In particular, they discussed engaging in various artistic activities to spread the Korean language and culture at King Sejong Institute Riyadh in Saudi Arabia through active cooperation and activities with Angel Artists; leading Korean artists working alongside with AiF children foundation.

The 1st University's Regular Korean Language Course in KSA
For the first time in Saudi Arabia, the Korean language curriculum began as an official university course. Starting from the spring semester of 2024, “Basic Korean” began as an elective liberal arts subject at the College of Humanities at Prince Sultan University (PSU). Ms. Haeun Choi, a teacher at King Sejong Institute, has been teaching classes to PSU students since last week as an official Faculty Member. This is a great achievement that King Sejong Institute Riyadh has achieved in just one year and three months since its launch, 2022. Going forward, based on this achievement, we will strive to open the first “Korean Language/Korean Studies Department” in Saudi Arabia.

Special Lecture by Professor Kim,Suwan, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Korea.
On Sunday, February 11th, at 12:00 PM, an invited lecture by Professor Suwan Kim of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, an expert on Middle Eastern culture, was held at Prince Sultan University Building 105, Auditorium (C02, 3rd floor). It was an event jointly hosted by King Sejong Institute Riyadh and Prince Sultan University College of Humanities, and the lecture was mainly given to Prince Sultan University faculty and students, but was also open to the general public. In addition, future plans include an official meeting to discuss student exchange and cooperation plans, including an MOU between Prince Sultan University and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

Seoyoung Jeon's farewell ceremony
Seoyoung Jeon, a teacher who has been working at our King Sejong Institute Riyadh for the past year and six months, will be returning to Korea on December 25th.
Last Thursday, Ms. Jeon's farewell was held at the office of King Sejong Institute Riyadh. Many of the students she taught, colleagues from King Sejong Institute, and faculty and staff from Prince Sultan University, as well as Counselor Kim Dae-hwan and Consul Jin Lee from the Korean Embassy, and Director Kee-hoon Jeon of the Export-Import Bank of Korea attended in person and made her farewell party a highlight. Along with a certificate of appreciation by the Head of King Sejong Institute Riyadh, an event was held where all attendees read hand-written letters in Korean characters and expressed their gratitude.
Since King Sejong Institute Riyadh opened at Prince Sultan University for the first time in Saudi Arabia in October 2022, her excellent character and leadership have laid the foundation for the successful start of our Institute, and she has taught many Saudi students about Korean culture and Korean through excellent lectures and sincere teachings.

At “Encounter(만남),” a Korean-Saudi cultural exchange event held at the Princess Norah University Concert Hall on November 27, 2023, the King Sejong Institute Riyadh held a Korean food cooking and tasting event. In addition, KSIR’s students held a calligraphy event where they wrote names in Korean for Saudi locals.

PSU & LG CNS, MOU signing ceremony with King Sejong Institute Riyadh
On November 20, at Prince Sultan University, the President of PSU and the CEO of LG CNS signed a business agreement for future mutual cooperation. In particular, in the business agreement, both organizations mutually agreed to educate and select excellent Saudi talents who are familiar with the Korean language and culture through the King Sejong Institute Riyadh.

Professor Chae, Soo-jeong of the Korea National University of Arts and her colleague visited our King Sejong Institute Riyadh. Professor Chae,Soo-jeong is the chairperson of the World Pansori Association and has been carrying out various activities to spread Pansori, Korea's traditional music, throughout the world. It was agreed that we would work together to spread Pansori and Korean traditional music in Saudi Arabia through cooperation with King Sejong Institute Riyadh.,

Korean Embassy Dinner Event
On November 15th, 53 students and teachers, staff of King Sejong Institute Riyadh(KSIR) participated in the Korean embassy’s dinner event, which was held at the official invitation of Ambassador Park Jun-yong of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. As a pre-event, members from the KSIR’s Drama Club performed a play in front of VIPs and students. During the event, an appreciation ceremony was held for those who contributed to the successful operation of KSIR. Mr. Ibrahim(PSU), Mr.Yi Tae-yeual(Head of KSIR), Ms.Jeon Seo-young(Teacher) & Ms.Choi Ha-eun(Teacher) received certificates of appreciation from Ambassador Park Jun-yong.

Juri and Duha visit Korea
Juri and Duha, students from King Sejong Institute in Riyadh, will visit Korea in November with invitations from the Korea Tourism Organization. This will be their first time visiting Korea. They are excited to experience Korean culture, visit cultural sites and visit various cities in Korea.

Ms. Reema Almojel who was selected to represent Saudi Arabia in June by KSIR, won the Excellence Award (3rd place) at the 2023 World Korean Speech Contest held in Seoul, Korea on October 10th. Among representatives selected from 149 countries around the world, she was her first time participating and achieved excellent results.

King Sejong Institute Riyadh participated in the 2023 Riyadh KCON event on October 6th and 7th. Many Saudi young people enjoyed various activities at the KSIR's booth, such as Writing Korean Names, Making Name Plate. The Korean Ambassador Park Jun-yong personally visited the KSIR's booth and encouraged our teachers and staff.

18 KSIR students have been designated as Saudi K-Travel Junior Leaders by Korean Tourism Organization
The "Korea Tourism Night" event was held at the JW Marriott Hotel Riyadh on October 8 with the attendance of several distinguished guests, including Korean Ambassador Park Jun-yong. The 18 KSIR's students were selected as K-Travel Junior Leaders by the Korea Tourism Organization. In addition, a presentation introducing beautiful Korean cities & history in Korean & Arabic was delivered by KSIR's students.

Korean Beauty World Event
On September 14, 2023, the K-BEAUTY WORLD event by KSIR was successfully held at the main auditorium, Building 105 at Prince Sultan University. It was an event to introduce Korea’s BEAUTY sponsored by “Innisfree,” a brand of AMORE PACIFIC, a leading Korean beauty products company. The Korean BEAUTY industry and current trends were introduced, and souvenirs were given and a product distribution event was held through a quiz. Almost 90 attendees enjoyed the event.

Meeting with the Korean Ambassador
On August 24, 2023, Ambassador Park Jun-yong of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea invited the teachers and staff of King Sejong Institute Riyadh to the main building of the Embassy. At the meeting held with lunch, he gave several words of encouragement and it was a place to share opinions on the future operation of King Sejong Institute Riyadh.

Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co.,Ltd, which is a supporter of KSIR held a welcome event in support of the Jamboree Saudi delegation in Korea.
Last Saturday 12th August, Jamboree members from KSA were welcomed at Daejin University by Pocheon City and Daewoo E&C from Korea. This event was made to console members who failed to stay fully at Saemangeum where Jamboree should have been placed till the end. Instead Daejin University nearby Seoul was accomodated to evade the typhoon and protect members from heat waves, so they were transferred by bus after about 3 hours travel. Hence Pocheon city as local government who administered and guide the Jamboree members and Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd jointly prepared small gifts to commorate 2023 Korea Jamboree. Members were happy to receive a traditional styled gifts and finianlized the last day of Jamboree event.
2023 Saudi & Korean University Students Meeting Event
On July 6, 2023, 17 students and staff from Korea’s top universities officially visited to Prince Sultan University, where King Sejong Institute Riyadh(KSIR) is located. The Prince Sultan University President Dr. Yamani and his staff welcomed the visiting delegation. After the Prince Sultan University official tour, a meeting event between Saudi and Korean students prepared by KSIR was held, and it was time to build strong friendships between students from both countries.
The Saudi & Korean Students Meeting Event was to promote mutual understanding of cross-cultural and global awareness through the meeting between Saudi & Korean students, which presented top students in Saudi Arabia and Korea a chance to grow into value creating global leaders through intercultural understanding and global awareness.

The 1st Saudi Korean Speech Contest was successfully completed.
The 1st King Sejong Institute Riyadh – Korean Speech Contest held last Saturday was successfully completed thanks to your interest and support.
It was a place where 27 local Saudis who passed the preliminary round gathered from all over the country to show off their Korean skills.
As a panel of judges, Korean President Chairman Mr. Kim Hyo-seok, Korean School Principal Kim Tae-gyeong, Korean Embassy Secretary Mr. Shin Hyeong-chul, KOTRA Deputy Director Mr. Yeon Seung-hwan, and Prince Sultan University Professor Dr. Son Hyuk-soo fairly evaluated the Korean language proficiency of the participants.

The "Korean Nameplate Making Event" of King Sejong Institute Riyadh(KSIR) was successfully held in 2023 Jeddah Korea Festival
On May 26th, King Sejong Institute Riyadh(KSIR) attended and successfully held the "Korean Nameplate Making Event" at the 2023 Korea Festival in Jeddah. This event, which was held at a place 1,000KM away from Riyadh, served as an opportunity to promote KSIR throughout Saudi Arabia, and once again confirmed how popular the cultural activity, "Korean Nameplate Making Event" of KSIR is. King Sejong Institute Riyadh is selected as a Korean Traditional Food Business Institution.
King Sejong Institute Riyadh(KSIR) has good news from the Korean Food Promotion Institute, one of the Korean Government organizations. KSIR is selected as a Korean traditional food business institution by the Korean Food Promotion Institute (KFPI) in Korea. Next semester, KFPI will provide us with Korean Traditional Meal Kit Sets for 200 people for free. We are able to hold a big Korean food event for our students and the public.

Special Invitational Lecture by King Sejong Institute Riyadh
On May 9th, an invitational lecture by a Korean architect hosted by King Sejong Institute in Riyadh and sponsored by Prince Sultan University was successfully held in the auditorium of the Building 105 at Prince Sultan University. Mr. Woosang Yoo and Mr. Sangjin Song from dmp Architecture, one of Korea's representative architectural firms, gave a lecture on Korean architecture with the theme of architecture and culture. About 60 students and professors from the College of Engineering, including students from King Sejong Institute Riyadh, attended the lecture. In addition, an official meeting was held with officials from Prince Sultan University, and plans for continuous cooperation and support with King Sejong Institute Riyadh were discussed.

Korean Culture Day - "Korean Food and Cultural Event"
On Tuesday, March 7th, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, the Korean Culture Day - “Korean food and cultural event” was held at the lobby of Prince Sultan University Building 105 with PSU faculty and students, King Sejong Institute Riyadh(KSIR) students. In addition, about 1,000 people, including the public and its family and Koreans living in Riyadh, attended and the event was held grandly.
The event was jointly held by the Korean Association of Riyadh and the KSIR which belong to the Community Service and Continuing Education Center(CSCE) at PSU, and the VIP guest was Eng. Ibrahim Ghamles(Director of CSCE), Mr. KimHyoSuk(President of Korean Association), Mr. KimKeeSoo (Deputy head of mission in Korea Embassy) and his entourage, Mr. KimTaeKyung(Korean school principal) attended.
The event was held in which participants cooked and enjoyed a variety of Korean food, and it was a place to enjoy various Korean traditional games together. Additionally, the video screening related to Korean culture and an exhibition were held as well.

King Sejong Institute K-DRAMA Club held a regular performance at the Korean International School Auditorium in Riyadh. Through months of practice, they acted out several scenes from K-DRAMA and performed KPOP DANCE. Including the tvN filming team, King Sejong Institute students, their families, and many Koreans participated as spectators, and it was held grandly.

The CJ Entertainment tvN filming team visited King Sejong Institute Riyadh. Shinhwa's Kim Dong-wan, a member of an idol group, as a MC visited and met the King Sejong Institute students, and conducted an interview with Dr. SukHee Yun, the head of King Sejong Institute Riyadh. Then, the King Sejong Institute Choir and the filming team sang "고향의 봄" in line with Dr. SukHee Yun's piano performance.

King Sejong Institute Riyadh (KSIR) held a public invitation event, “Make your Nameplate in Korean,” on Nov. 12, 2022 at Prince Sultan Hall, PSU.
King Sejong Institute Riyadh (KSIR) held a public invitation event, “Make your Nameplate in Korean,” on Nov. 12, 2022 at Prince Sultan Hall, PSU. About 100 King Sejong Institute students, their families, and other Saudis participated in the event. Additionally, 30 Koreans with children living in Riyadh participated as well, invited by the Korean Embassy and Riyadh Korean Association. They, Korean and Saudi families, were sitting around round tables together to make nameplates in Korean. After Saudi families filled out a form, they could write their names in Arabic and English, then Korean families helped them to write them in Korean. With the form, Saudi families could find Korean letter blocks. Along with this event, KSIR organized traditional Korean street games. Korean families taught how to play those games to Saudi families. At the end, Saudis and Koreans became one with playing games and making nameplates in Korean.

On October 26, 2022, at the National Day event of the Korean Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Riyadh King Sejong Institute Choir gave an official celebration performance. As the first Saudi women's choir, they sang the Korean children's song, "Spring of Hometown(고향의 봄)", in front of many ladies and gentlemen.

Appointed as a Public Relations Ambassador for King Sejong Institute Riyadh
The King Sejong Institute Riyadh(KSIR) today appointed Ms.Ruba Kefah as an official public relations ambassador. As a student studying IT at King Saud University, she won a prize in a Korean speaking contest hosted by the Saudi Korean Embassy and is fluent in Korean, English and Arabic. In addition, last year, during an official visit by the President of the Republic of Korea to Saudi Arabia, she had an official meeting with the First Lady of the Republic of Korea as one of the Saudi student representatives. In the future, she will lead the external public relations activities of KSIR.

Saudi Arabia’s first Korean teacher dispatched to KSIR arrived, September 9. 2022
On September 9, 2022, Chun,SeoYoung, who will teach regular classes at King Sejong Institute Riyadh, finally arrived in Saudi Arabia. She is a veteran who has taught Korean language and culture professionally for 15 years at King Sejong Foundation.
At King Khalid International Airport, Dr.Yun,SukHee, the Dean of the King Sejong Institute Riyadh, and Jeon,JunBeom, the first secretary of the Korean Embassy in KSA, welcomed the teacher.
The regular course of King Sejong Institute in Saudi Arabia will start with the online class on September 11th.

The President of prince Sultan University, Dr.Yamani, attended "2022 invitational Workshop for Directors of the Newly Designated KSIs" at Seoul, S.korea.
The King Sejong Institute Foundation (President:, Lee Hai Young, hereinafter KSIF) held the “2022 Invitational Workshop for Directors of the Newly Designated KSIs” at JW Marriott Hotel, Seoul, over a period of four days from August 7 to 10. This conference, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by KSIF.
The President of Prince Sultan University, Dr. Yamani, was officially invited to attend this event, and was the first among 23 newly designated institutions from all over the world to receive the designation certificate from the President of King Sejong Institute Foundation.
